Types of Travel Insurance and their Benefits
Travel Insurance can be broken down to quite a few types. You have multi-trip insurance, group travel insurance, student insurance, adventure travel insurance and many more. A lot of these types will merge together or have many of the same benefits but often at diverse levels of coverage. So let us have a look at these types and their benefits.
Emergency Evacuation Insurance – This is a type of travel insurance in essence and is employed for Emergency Medical Evacuation only. It does usually offer a few other benefits such as coverage for emergency reunion, trip disruption, Accident Death & Dismemberment (AD&D), return of minor children and political evacuation.
Student Insurance – This one is particularly designed to meet the requirements of international students and scholars. It is also relevant to holiday travel insurance for students.
Travel Medical Insurance - This is the most widespread among the many kinds of Travel Insurance. The reason is that it is basically the most comprehensive of all of them. The benefits you get include baggage insurance, intensive care, hospital room and board, medical expenses, emergency ill health, neighborhood ambulance, outpatient checkup, dental pain, prescription drugs, emergency medical evacuation, natural disaster, trip interruption, political evacuation, emergency reunion, missing baggage, return of minor kids, terrorism, basic sporting activities, indemnity, AD&D, identity theft, etc.
Group Travel Medical Insurance – This is pretty much the same as an individual travel medical insurance plan except it is purchased by a group. The group would normally be five or more which means even a large family traveling together, missionary groups school groups, or any other organized group would be qualified to buy a group travel medical insurance.
Adventure Insurance – This is a type of travel medical insurance with benefits for intense sporting activities. The types of sports are normally the same but you should check the terms before you purchase to ensure that your preferred sports activities are covered.
Trip Insurance – You should seriously consider purchasing a Trip Cancellation Insurance policy when you are taking a trip or vacation which is extremely expensive and is pre-paid. You will get paid by this type of insurance if you have to cancel your trip for any of a number of reasons. There are normally other benefits included in these types of travel insurance. Also this is generally for trips of thirty days or less and is usually purchased within a specified period of time after your trip is paid for. And avoid buying Trip Insurance from the same travel provider you purchase your trip from.
